It may sound like an entire Balcan gypsy orchestra, but Beirut is actually a one-man project, 19-year-old at he moment. Zach Condon is an Albuquerque native (U.S.A.) who has composed an album sounding like something between Talking Heads and Yann Tiersen.It's hard to choose a sample track, but I would pick Mount Wroclai (Idle Days), the 6th track, as certainly one of the most marvelous compositions ever made, mixing a Yann Tiersen-like accordion with David Byrne-like vocals. Gulag Orkestar is just one more of those creations that keep you believing in music infinite evolution. I'll wait patiently for Zach's next inspiration, hopefully another humankind perfection.
